Gisli Sigurðsson has always painted mainly the nature of the country, sometimes almost abstrakt, sometmes  rather realistic, but in the later years he has often used blended technik, not least photography.

His pictures tells stories, sometimes with nationlistic points, even with the old sagas and besides he has often painted portrait for individuals and company.

His favorites motives are to be found in the middle of Iceland near the glaciers. His last effort was in the autumn 2007 when he put together a book with photographs of fifty paintings from the last twenty-five years, and with every painting there is a poem by the painter.
